This fine collection gathers together material from Colombia's legendary Felito Records imprint, which was active from the mid 1970s to the late 1990s. The label specialized in releasing defiantly tropical music that fused traditional Columbian rhythms, vocals and instrumentation with the sounds of the Caribbean, particularly soca and calypso. As this compilation also makes clear, the label's local artists weren't averse to including elements of Afro-Cuban or Argentine music, either (think tango, in particular). As a result, this brilliant double-album is a hugely vibrant, colourful and entertaining affair, full of little-known tropical treats that effortlessly meld hot and sticky styles at will.
