(2510) Yuri Suzuki and Pearl River Sound offer only the rawest of the raw, in fine keeping with the jam-led modus operandi of their patrons, Super Rhythm Trax. Honouring the legacy of early Detroit acid-electro as it was done it in the 90s, this is yet another record known as the 'Split' EP, referring nominally to the fact that one artist shares one side each, but latently tying into the music's intended vibe of abrasion, of split ends. But it should be noted that both Suzuki and PRS are Londoners, and the likes of 'Hype', 'Smiley' and 'MPC Beat' fittingly bring biting acids and brash big beats, in fine keeping with the resident bleep technos and broken they'd have inevitably ingested while living here. 'Baby Cup' is a particularly great track, and perhaps a future classic, taking a classic vocal acid formula (nodding to Trax Records) and abstractifying it to irreal effect.
